Art Blooms in March at DCA

Dorchester Center for the Arts welcomes The Dorchester Garden Club for “Art Blooms”, an exhibition in the front gallery for March. As a complement to “Nature and Beyond”, the Petra Bernstein exhibition in the main gallery, several designers from the club have created floral interpretations inspired by the work of Ms. Bernstein. Visitors may pick up a game sheet in the front lobby at DCA and then visit both exhibitions to match the gallery art to the floral interpretations. Three winners will be drawn randomly from the final entries, and each will receive a $20.00 gift certificate to the artisan’s gift shop at DCA. Interpretive designers and consultants for the exhibition include David Adams, Julia Berman, Beth Burton, Donna Dunlap, Kay Karminski, Mari Stanley, Judy Slaughter, and Cheryl Willey. DCA thanks these artists and the club for their partnership and efforts to create an interactive arts experience for the visitors to DCA.

The Dorchester Garden Club, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, was formed in 1930 and joined the National Garden Clubs, Inc. in 1966. The mission of the club is to promote the knowledge of gardening, protect and restore the quality of the environment, advance the conservation of natural resources, further civic beautification, extend the knowledge and appreciation of arranging plant materials, and foster social interaction and community building. Club membership is open to both men and women, and new members are always welcome. For more information, visit online at www.dorchestergardenclub.com.

A virtual Second Saturday reception on March 13 will stream on Facebook live starting at 6:00 p.m., with a tour of the exhibits and artist talk with Petra Bernstein. Both shows run through March 27. New gallery hours are Thursday noon – 6:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
