Support the 2023 Annual Appeal!
December 10, 2023 @ 8:00 am - January 31, 2024 @ 5:00 pm
Please support the DCA 2023 Annual Appeal!
We believe art is essential, and we know you do, too. Everyone should have access to life-long learning opportunities that inspire, uplift, and transform. Our commitment to providing accessible and diverse artistic experiences sets us apart, but we can’t do it without your gifts. Can we count on your support this year? Donations can be made right here
Thanks to you, in 2023 DCA served as a vibrant hub for creativity that engaged the community and connected new populations to the arts. Here are a few highlights:
• Open Mics were held in the main gallery, supporting area musicians, and providing free musical enjoyment for visitors through winter and early spring
• Gallery exhibitions showcased exceptional work, such as the sculptures by Bill Wolff in the George B. Todd Performance Hall
• Second Saturdays offered artist talks and demos, local musicians, and the social opportunity to gather with members of the arts community
• New partnerships yielded a series of Raku pottery workshops, the premier performance of the Cambridge Ballet Folklorico, and professional development for fine arts teachers with acclaimed dancer Kwame Shaka Opare
• Chalk artists from all over the country were brought into the Dorchester County Public Schools to work with over 300 students and create a special exhibition
In addition to new programming, a new roof was put on the building, but several other capital needs remain. While we seek to expand programming, we also have the responsibility for the continual caregiving of the historic building DCA calls home.
None of this happens without you. Your contribution will directly fund art exhibitions, classes for all ages, writing workshops, live performances and more, that inspire and connect our community. You can also designate your gift to support the capital needs of the building, itself a work of art.
Please open your hearts and empower the arts so that more local artists, art enthusiasts, students, and more, can experience the life-changing power of the arts.
With sincere thanks,
Betsey Harrington, President
