Cuban Links Collage Workshop with Sami Miranda
April 26 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Free
The exhibition Cuban Links offers a compelling exploration of Cuba’s intricate relationship between its historical roots and contemporary realities, viewed through the distinct lenses of three contemporary artists. Immerse yourself in the vibrant narratives of Cuban Links by participating in our upcoming collage workshop. Inspired by the exhibition’s exploration of Cuba’s past and present through the distinct perspectives of Lazaro Batista, Samuel Miranda, and Ulysses Marshall, this hands-on session, led by Samuel Miranda, invites you to create your own visual story. Drawing from themes of cultural heritage, memory, daily life, and historical reflection present in the artists’ works, you’ll learn collage techniques to layer images, textures, and ephemera, constructing a personal artwork inspired by the resonant themes of the exhibition. This workshop offers a unique opportunity to engage creatively with the exhibition’s powerful messages and discover your artistic voice in response to Cuba’s rich and multifaceted story.
FREE! All materials provided.
This workshop is partially funded by the Maryland Humanities Council.
