The Feldman Family Concert 2025, Celebrating 50 years and a Fabulous Family at DCA!

Dorchester Center for the Arts is pleased to announce the 2025 Feldman Family Concert, to be held on June 21. This event celebrates the generosity of the Feldman Family, who’s ongoing support has made numerous community art programs and initiatives possible at DCA. The family matriarch, Georgie Feldman, served as Treasurer for the first Board of Directors at the organization’s inception in 1970, and she still voices her opinions today!

Her son Phil Feldman was born and bred here in Dorchester County and attended University of MD. “Phil established a very successful insurance company here and raised his family here in Cambridge” states DCA Board President Judy Slaughter. “This shows his fidelity, support and allegiance to Cambridge and the community the DCA serves”. The public is invited to attend this special evening, which will be held at the Chesapeake Grove Intergenerational Center from 5:00-9:00 pm.

The event will feature a buffet, cocktails, a fabulous silent auction, and live music by Jayla Elise. Jayla is a soulful 21-year-old singer-songwriter based in Cambridge, Maryland, whose music blends the emotive power of R&B and soul. Born in Prince Georges County, Jayla’s voice and lyrics draw from a deep well of personal experiences, exploring themes of love, loss, and self-discovery. With a background in state choirs and formal performing arts training, her sound is both technically refined and deeply expressive. As an independent artist, Jayla is dedicated to creating music that resonates with authenticity, inviting listeners to connect with her stories and emotions in a way that feels intimate and real. Recently, Jayla produced an original song for Dorchester County entitled “Dorchester Dreams”, inspired by tradition and community and has now become the County’s official anthem.

The evening will also include a caricature artist for custom creations on-site. For an artful touch, an exhibition in the Center’s atrium will feature select works from the June Annual Members’ Show at the Dorchester Center for the Arts. Proceeds from the event support “Art for All” at DCA – providing creative engagement opportunities for all ages – as well as upcoming capital improvements to the building. Plans include a second-floor addition which will add two new classroom spaces to accommodate more instructional arts and exhibition space.
