About the Artist

Self taught Taino Latina Artist Miriam Moran is a Cambridge CommUNITY inspiration. Born in Staten Island, New York, Miriam and her family moved to Maryland when she was fourteen; the beginning of an impactful journey. It all started from a car accident which landed her and her two children in the hospital. One of her children was partially paralyzed due to a spinal cord injury and Miriam was bedridden and had to recover for months due to the severe internal injury she had faced. She persevered through faith and was inspired by biographies of artists like Frida Kahlo, which led Miriam to teach herself artistic skills every new day and to do the same for others by inspiring them. In 2017 she emerged to paint for a purpose to give back to her community and debuted her art and artistic history ideas in Cambridge Maryland. Miriam is continuing her artistic mission to inspire and use her gifts to contribute not only to her growing art career but to advocate for opportunities for our community youth artists of diversity and to use art as healing forms for community beautification.
