Dorchester Center for the Arts is seeking a part-time Community Arts Coordinator to focus on further developing and extending the organization’s commitment to engaging diverse audiences with its programming and activities, both in-person and online. Applicants should have experience in community engagement, and a collaborative and creative spirit. Extensive arts knowledge is required, prior arts instruction and/or management experience is advantageous. Previous experience working with non-profit organizations is helpful, but not required, as are links with local communities in the mid-shore area.
This position will include:
- Planning and implementing the annual instructional arts and performance calendar
- Developing new arts initiatives in collaboration with the volunteer Program Committee
- Implementing community arts activities online and in-person
- Coordinating the annual Showcase event – a one-day art walk and street festival held in September
Experience with digital communications is an asset, such as web updates, Facebook and Instagram posts, live streaming events, and managing email lists. DCA maintains on-site studios and welcomes new classes in studio art as well as those that will take the arts out into the community. There will also be opportunities to guest curate gallery and community exhibitions.
The Community Arts Coordinator works a minimum/maximum of 20-25 hours per week. Schedule has flexibility, some remote work possible, but hours are not to exceed 1250 annually.
Applicants should have a minimum of an associate degree, and relevant experience in the arts, graphic arts, or related field.
