Get Out of Auto Mode – Photography Workshop

This workshop is for photographers who are just starting out with their first DSLR or mirrorless camera, or who mostly use Auto or Program Modes when taking photos, and have never really explored the amazing capabilities of their camera.

What You’ll Learn

  • An overview of your camera, with suggestions for settings you may not know about, DSLR vs. Mirrorless, RAW vs. JPEG, and recommended internet sites for learning more.
  • How to use the different camera shooting modes, from Program mode to Manual mode.
  • The exposure triangle: aperture, shutter, and ISO.
  • Metering and white balance.
  • How to setup and use autofocus, including back button focus.
  • When to use manual focus.
  • An introduction to good composition.
  • And more!
  •

Learn, Shoot, Review, and Repeat

This workshop combines classroom instruction with field shooting. You’ll sit through a lesson, and then we’ll leave the classroom so that you can practice what you just learned. And then back to the classroom, and then back into the field. This will be repeated throughout the length of the workshop – we want you to immediately practice what you’ve just learned so that you don’t forget it.

Please note that this is not a camera-phone photography class.
