Creating Healing Waves one Chalk Line at a Time – October 28 – 29; 10am-4pm Free to the Public
Art Vendor | Non-Profit Vendor | Food Vendor
Vendor Information:
For 2023 we will be at a location where we can fit vendors surrounding the County Building and along a grass area by the water and encircling the parking lot where the artists work, with access for a limited number of vendors to water and electricity. Vendors can register for one or two days for the festival – up to you which day. Booth spaces are 10×10. This two-day event will go on rain or shine and there will be no refunds due to inclement weather. Vendors are strongly encouraged to have a tent/covering with a weighted secure measure.
The Festival will have Chalk Artists from across the country and Maryland, doing their work in designated spots marked on the adjacent parking lot. There will be a Music Stage with performers throughout the two-day event on the back deck of the County Building overlooking the waterfront.
The Festival runs for two days from 10-4pm. This is a two day event where attendees will be able to see Chalk Art demonstrations from artists joining us from around the country to complete their work over the course of the festival.
Art and Not-for-profits booths can begin set up by 8am on Oct 28th and 29th. Booths must be set up and ready to go by 9:30 am on each day registered to participate. Because of security Tents and tables can not be left overnight. Vendors are responsible for the setup and tear down of booths each day and MUST have secured weights for their tents. There are no refunds/no rain checks for vendors.
Food vendors must provide all food and heating equipment but will be given electricity if needed. This information MUST be clearly worked out before the festival to ensure we can provide what’s needed. There is a fixed fee and a percentage of sales of 5% from each day payable to Dorchester Center for the Arts. All food carts must submit this application along with a copy of the Health Department form to reserve their space at the Festival. Mail Health forms at least 2 weeks before the event to Dorchester County Health Department | Division of Environmental Health | 3 Cedar Street, Cambridge, MD 21613. Their phone is 410-228-1167. We will have limited and non-duplicated food vendors join us at this festival to encourage a positive experience. This is a free, no-alcohol event.

DCA is excited to announce that this is the second year for this Festival and has the support of Dorchester Center for the Arts, Dorchester County, and the Hoopers Island community that supported the first one and will host a special artist event before the festival begins. The event will be promoted and advertised on social media, Dorchester County Tourism, local radio which now has a wide reach, and other promotional outlets both online and printed/posted posters around the county. We look forward to having you be a part of this exciting event.
Here are some media links from last year’s event. We had a lot of fun and are psyched to do this again to expose the community to this special art form, local art/music/food, and the topic of mental health awareness that is supported by organizations in our community. The Chalk Artists will be in the schools teaching workshops on the Friday before the event so we will reserve spaces for the student participants. We will also have a workshop each day for anyone interested in getting their hands covered in colorful chalk dust to try it out. This ain’t your childhood sidewalk experience so get ready!
